Vasuclar Surgery

KCH is pleased to offer Vascular Services to the community. Your vascular system (veins and arteries) acts like a highway, transporting blood and oxygen to every living cell in your body. Without smoothly flowing blood, your body cannot function. Problems result when there are traffic jams that obstruct the flow of blood.

Vascular surgeons are specialists that use a variety of techniques to clear or repair damaged blood vessels. In most cases, vascular conditions are highly treatable, often without surgery.

Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD)

Peripheral arterial disease in the legs or lower extremities is the narrowing or blockage of the vessels that carry blood from the heart to the legs. It is primarily caused by the buildup of fatty plaque in the arteries, which is called atherosclerosis. PAD can happen in any blood vessel, but it is more common in the legs than the arms. Approximately 8.5 million people age 40 and older in the United States have PAD.
