Knox Community Hospital and Ohio State’s Comprehensive Stroke Center provide the best treatment for any brain emergency. Knox Community Hospital has joined The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Telestroke Collaborative, which brings our community rapid access to advanced stroke care. When a suspected stroke patient arrives at Knox Community Hospital's emergency room, a “stroke alert” is activated at both Ohio State and Knox Community Hospital, which mobilizes a team of stroke experts who, through the use of real-time testing and patient interviews, can help the care team at Knox Community Hospital determine the best treatment option for the patient.
Are you at Risk for a Stroke?
A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts. When that happens, brain cells die in the part of the brain that is cut off from blood flow and oxygen.
Up to 80 percent of all strokes can be prevented.
Certain risk factors, like your age or gender, cannot be changed, but you do have control over many of the risk factors for stroke. Learn your risk today and talk to your provider about changes you can make to prevent a stroke.
