JOB SUMMARY

Provides screening, evaluation and therapeutic intervention for patients referred by physicians or appropriate source.

 

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Administer and score standardized test procedures to assist in evaluation of patient communicative skills.
  • Interpretation and written reports are required following assessment including patient education and input related to test results and recommendations.
  • Develop a treatment plan and implementation per doctor are documented and progress notes after each patient contact is required.
  • Contact with physician is necessary to provide information on patient status.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all ages and socio-economic status.
  • Job knowledge of the medical implications of various disorders of stroke, traumatic brain injury, tracheostomy/vent patients, language delay, articulation/motor disorders, mental retardation and swallowing disorders.

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Attendance of staff meetings, conferences and participation on committees within the facility as needed.
  • Able to use problem solving skills and make independent decisions regarding patient care.
  • Must have effective interpersonal skills and saintly patience.
  • Ability to respond in emergency situations appropriately and adheres to proper procedures.
  • Supports the mission, values and vision of the organization and the department.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and takes the initiative to implement effective changes.
  • Maintains applicable certification and/or licensure.
  • Successfully completes mandatory education and proficiencies/ competencies training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. 
  • Actively participates in departmental meetings, committees and departmental strategic plan initiatives, educational programs and mandatory in-services.
  • Complies with all Joint Commission rules and regulations.
  • Complies with all rules and regulations and professional conduct standards and presents a professional image.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and responds appropriately.
  • Utilizes measures to promote and maintain all customer’s personnel safety.
  • Maintains patient, fitness clients, employee, physician, and organization confidentiality, respects the rights, privacy and property of others. 
  • Assures that patient and fitness client’s information is maintained in confidential manner and complies with HIPPA regulations.
  • Answers telephone and returns voice mail messages daily.
  • Effective and timely communication with inter and intra departments and all other customers.
Requirements Include
  • EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

     

  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology required.
  • Current License by the State of Ohio and/or Certified Clinically Competent by ASHA
  • Ohio Department of Education licensure/certification (where appropriate).
  • Maintained necessary CEU’s and training to retain licensure.
  • Current CPR certification
