Just Ask Nathan
Nathan arrived at the KCH Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) with a determination already built into his core.

While hunting, he fell out of a tree stand and sustained a head laceration, four left rib fractures, a left scapular, L1 burst fracture with additional fractures at L2-3 and L5, a spleen injury, and a mild brain injury.

He was life-flighted from his location in the Killbuck, Ohio, area to the OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in Columbus for an 11-hour surgery. After becoming medically stable, he could join us in the ARU at Knox Community Hospital.

During his time with the ARU team, he showed immense courage, perseverance, and motivation to rebuild his mind and body. Nathan worked hard each day regardless of the challenging task provided to him during his sessions with laughter and optimism. He is a pleasure to work with regarding every aspect of his occupational and physical therapy sessions.

He will continue to work on getting back to "a new normal" but shares it's all due to the support of his therapists and nursing staff. He shared that his care at KCH was amazing and that he felt supported during his recuperative stay.

The Acute (Inpatient) Rehabilitation facility at Knox Community Hospital helps patients experiencing a loss of function from injury or illness to become as independent as possible regarding activities of daily living so that they may return home and resume daily activities.

Patients and their family members are encouraged to call to discuss therapy services or arrange a tour.
