The Second Quart 2023 Sunflower Award Honoree is Dani Vanriper

The Sunflower Committee congratulates the Quarter Two 2023 Sunflower Award Honoree Dani Vanriper! One of her patients nominated Dani, who recognized her caring and compassion.

The former patient wrote, “Dani talked with me, made me feel good, and was very caring. She made me feel like family. She never complained; she’s the real deal! I was an STNA for almost 30 years and took pride in what I did, and you don’t see that nowadays. Dani just made me feel good on my bad day.”

Dani has worked at KCH for a little over a year and has recently been scheduled to our 6th-floor medical-surgical unit, but she has been in the medical field for 27 years and loves to make people feel better so they can get back home. In her free time, Dani loves to camp. She demonstrates the values of an extraordinary patient care assistant daily by providing a safe, friendly, healing environment for all our patients.

“Advice from a sunflower: Be bright, sunny, and positive; spread seeds of happiness, rise, shine, and hold your head high.”

The Sunflower Award is a program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by KCH Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) daily. Knox Community Hospital is proud to recognize one of our PCAs with this special honor.
