1st Quarter Daisy Award Winner - Chelsea Lipaj
"I Was Honored To Present Chelsea Lipaj from the Intensive Care Unit with the 1st Quarter Daisy Award."

We had a wonderful presentation for her on May 9th and are so blessed to have Tina Corrigan, KCH Marketing (the nominator), present.

Carol Emery, DNP, RN, CENP
Chief Nursing Officer

Her winning nomination that was selected by Shared Leadership members read as follows:

"I am just now getting to the point where I can do this. I don't know her last name, but she deserves any accolades possible. She cared for my stepdad when his condition severely declined due to sepsis and many other complications. Unfortunately, she was the nurse who let us know that we needed to come to address his care. He had been struggling and so miserable for the past two weeks leading up to that visit, and that day he was miserable. We were so protective of him. He was scheduled for further testing and needed to be intubated for surgery. We did not know his lung had collapsed. She took the brunt of our confusion, frustration, and heartbreak so professionally. She was patient, forgiving, and supportive. To two women (my Mom and myself) who were beyond exhaustion fighting for the inevitable, she and Dr. Costello were outstanding in the face of such a hard moment. I know it's her job, but I have to say, what a job. That is hard, and I don't know how they do what they do each day. I am so thankful she was there; I don't even know how to say it better. We needed to have that support from someone like her when none of us had the ability to think straight."
