A Strong Future for Local Care

Knox Community Hospital has a strong history of providing high-quality local care – and we want to keep it that way. The hospital is currently exploring potential collaborative opportunities with other health systems. This is to ensure we have a solid plan for the future, remain strong and continue providing care for years to come. Strategic collaborations are not new to KCH. The hospital has long collaborated with respected health systems to expand services, and this process builds on that solid foundation.

Why We Are Exploring Options

Health care is changing quickly. Community hospitals face rising costs, workforce shortages and increasing technology demands. As we evaluated how to modernize our electronic medical record systems, we saw an opportunity to step back and ask a bigger question: What structure best positions KCH to grow, invest and serve our community long term? Rather than solve challenges one at a time, the Board chose to explore whether a new strategic model could better support our future.

Where We Are Now

We had interest from almost two dozen organizations and received formal proposals from 10 – a strong reflection of KCH’s positive reputation and important role in our region. After careful review, the Board narrowed the field to a small, select group that best aligns with our goals and community needs. We are now conducting detailed evaluations of these organizations before determining next steps. No final decisions have been made. Selecting finalists is only one step in a thoughtful, thorough process.

What Matters Most

The Board is focused on options that:

  • Improve quality and patient experience
  • Expand services and enhance access to care in the community
  • Support recruitment and retention of physicians and staff
  • Invest in evolving technology, including an upgraded electronic medical record system
  • Protect local priorities and community voice

KCH remains open and operating as usual. Our mission to provide compassionate health care service that exceeds the expectations of our community does not change.

Our Commitment

We are committed to a transparent and thoughtful process. We will share information as we can and provide updates when milestones are reached. Please check our website for the latest information.
