Bruce White
Chief Executive Officer

Bruce D. White was named to the position of Chief Executive Officer of Knox Community Hospital (KCH), Mount Vernon, Ohio, in September of 2006. Bruce joined the KCH team in July of 1996 and, in addition to his current role as CEO, has served in the positions of: Assistant Administrator, Vice-President of Support and Ancillary Services, and, Director of Information Services.

Bruce holds a Master's degree in Business Administration with certification in Healthcare Management from The University of Dallas. Bruce also holds a second Master's Degree in Business Operational Excellence in Healthcare from The Ohio State University, Fisher College of Business. Bruce was certified by The Fisher College of Business as a Six Sigma Lean Green Belt. With a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science and mathematics; Bruce experienced a combined 15 years in the energy and manufacturing industries working in multiple locations for the Marathon Oil Company and Cooper Industries. He also taught part-time for seven years as an information technology instructor for Central Ohio Technical College.

In addition to currently serving in governance roles for The Ohio Hospital Association, Mental Health and Recovery Board for Licking and Knox Counties, Community Health Center of Knox County, and Knox County Chamber of Commerce; Bruce has served on the boards of Kenyon College, Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon, United Way of Knox County, Salvation Army, YMCA, and the Advisory Council for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center. In 2015, he was selected by Quorum Health Resources as CEO of the Year. Bruce's focus, both in his current position with Knox Community Hospital and in his volunteer involvement in community organizations, is on the development of organizational culture to promote excellence in achieving and maintaining the highest levels of performance and service.

Bruce M. Behner, Jr.
Chief Operating Officer

Bruce M. Behner, Jr., joined the Administrative Staff at Knox Community Hospital as the Chief Operating Officer in June 2007.  A veteran healthcare executive with over 27 years of experience, Mr. Behner came to Knox County from Nanticoke Memorial Health System of Seaford, Delaware, where he served as Vice President of Outpatient and Hospitality Services.

In his role as Chief Operating Office, Behner assists in the oversight of the day-to-day activities of the organization, providing leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure the organization has the proper operational controls and administrative and reporting procedures.  

Mr. Behner earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Youngstown State University.

Michael V. Ambrosiani
Chief Financial Officer

Michael Ambrosiani joined the Executive Team at Knox Community Hospital in December 2007 as the Chief Financial Officer.   A veteran healthcare executive with over 20 years of experience, Mr. Ambrosiani came to Knox County from Prowers Medical Center in Lamar, Colorado, where he served as the Chief Financial Officer for 2 years.

In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Ambrosiani is responsible for budgeting and cost reporting, cost control programs, accounting process improvements and general accounting and reporting.

Mr. Ambrosiani earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and a Masters of Business Administration Degree from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Jeffrey C. Northup, DO
Chief Medical Officer

Jeffrey C. Northup, DO recently joined the Executive Team at Knox Community Hospital as the Chief Medical Officer. Before joining Knox Community Hospital, Dr. Northup was the Chief Medical Officer and Director of Medical Education and Outreach at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona and is Board-Certified by American College of Physician Executives.

Dr. Northup served not only his community but also had extensive interaction with the neighboring Navajo Nation, Fort Apache Tribe and the Indian Health Service. One of his primary roles was to facilitate communication between the medical staff,  Administration and Board. He was responsible for physician recruitment and physician alignment with the Mission and Vision of the hospital.  In addition, he was directly involved with establishing telemedicine services for the remote facility (175 miles from the nearest tertiary center and 145 miles from the next higher level of care)  as well as establishing direct collaborative relationships with specialty centers in Phoenix.

He describes his professional experience as one in which he “led physicians through change with the least amount of interference with their primary goal of providing great healthcare and helping to align the hospital and physicians in a seamless organization throughout the continuum of healthcare from wellness through post-acute care and recovery.”

Dr. Northup received his Undergraduate Degree at Kenyon College and his Medical Education from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the Arizona Osteopathic Association. Prior to entering Medical Management, Dr. Northup was a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist for 30 years practicing at first in the Phoenix market then the remote rural area of NE Arizona.

Chief Nursing Officer

Carol Emery DNP, RN, CENP recently joined the Executive Team at Knox Community Hospital as the Chief Nursing Officer. Before joining Knox Community Hospital, Ms. Emery was the Chief Nursing Officer at Southern Illinois Healthcare, Director of Nursing at Middle Park Health in Colorado, and a supervisor within the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has a strong commitment to family and community with a focus on empowering healthcare workers to provide patient-centered care through use of evidence-based practices.

Ms. Emery has served as a resource for other nursing administrators in the areas of staff engagement and patient quality outcomes through use quality strategies such as Lean. She has been responsible for enhancement of communication between departments such as nursing, physicians, therapies, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, nutrition, and other patient care areas through implementation of TeamSTEPPS and shared governance best practices. In addition, she has developed numerous patient care programs such as Diabetes Population Healthcare, Intravenous Access, and an Outpatient Infusion Center. She has had multiple successful outcomes with Accreditations for Chest Pain, Diabetes, Bariatric, and Joint Commission Accreditations including disease specific for Orthopedics and Stroke.

She describes her professional experience as one in which she has utilized her diverse experience across the healthcare continuum to strategically improve safety, quality, experience, and cost of healthcare. Ms. Emery further explains her leadership philosophy as reaching for the STARS (Situational, Transformational, Authentic, Reality-Based, Servant leadership).  

Ms. Emery received, cum laude, her undergraduate and graduate degrees through McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. She graduated June 2019 with distinction from Capella University with her Doctor of Nursing Practice. She has maintained her clinical skills through recent practice at the bedside in a level four trauma certified critical access hospital. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Ohio Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Association. Ms. Emery is Certified in Executive Nursing Practice with over 20 years of experience in healthcare.

Lisa Bragg
Vice President of Human Resources

Lisa has been the Director of Human Resources since 2006.  During her career, Lisa has served as Human Resources Coordinator and Director of Food and Nutrition.  

Lisa holds a Masters in Business Administration from Ashland University and Healthcare Administration from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Lisa currently heads the organization’s Service Excellence initiative serving as Service Champion. As Vice President of Human Resources she also has oversight of Organizational Development and Employee Health.

Kwi Vollhardt
Vice President of Information Systems

Kwi has been the Director of Information Systems since 2004.  In 2012 and beyond, Kwi and her team will be responsible for launching the electronic medical record (EMR) and the implementation of new and updated computer systems.  Kwi holds a Masters of Business Administration.

Christine Ingram
Vice President of Physician Practices

Christine has been with KCH since 2009. After 3 years as a consultant, she joined KCH full time in 2012. Christine brings more than twenty years of experience in practice management and is a nationally recognized speaker and author on the subject. She holds a Master’s of Science in Management- Healthcare Administration. 

Sandy Kollar
Vice President of Quality & Performance Improvement

Sandy joined the organization in 1989 as a staff Registered Nurse.  During her career, Sandy has served as the Director of Cardiovascular Services, Education and The Center for Cancer Care. 

Sandy holds a Masters of Science in Management - Healthcare Administration and a Bachelors in Business Administration.

Danielle O'Brien
Vice President of Finance

Danielle has been with the organization since 2004 and most recently served as the Controller.    As Vice President of Finance she also has oversight of Material Management and Revenue Integrity Departments. Danielle has a Master of Science in Management – Healthcare Administration and is a Certified Public Accountant.
