How often should your child visit his or her physician?

The American Academy of Pediatrics established the following general guidelines for healthy children to visit a physician:

  • 2 to 4 days old      
  • By 1 month           
  • 2 months               
  • 4 months               
  • 6 months               
  • 9 months               
  • 1 year
  • 15 months
  • 18 months                     
  • 2 years
  • 3 years
  • 4 years
  • 5 years
  • 6 years
  • 8 years                        
  • 10 years
  • yearly until age 21

 

Well-Child Visits

Well-child visits or check-ups are important to keep your child in good health.

Your child’s provider will evaluate:

  • Health exams
  • Vision and hearing tests
  • Vaccinations
  • General health, growth and development
  • Medical referrals to specialist, if needed
