ALERT: Patients need your help now – give blood or platelets!

The American Red Cross is facing a blood shortage and is issuing an urgent call for eligible blood and platelet donors of all blood types to give now.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Make an appointment to give blood or platelets by downloading the free Blood Donor App, visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
  • Let your friends and family know about the urgent need. New and current donors of all blood types are needed to help ensure the Red Cross can meet the needs of patients every day and is prepared for emergencies that require significant volumes of donated blood.
  • Bring a friend to donate with you.

Blood and platelets are needed for accident and burn victims, premature babies, surgical and transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or sickle cell disease. Your support can help ensure that blood products are there for Knox Community Hospital patients who depend on blood products from volunteer donors.  Please #GiveNow and help save lives.
