Scholarship Awarded by Future Nurses Club

The Wilbur Gaunder Nursing Scholarship, awarded by the Future Nurses Club of Knox Community Hospital, recipients include:

  • Hannah Kinnear - Mount Vernon High School (3 year Future Nurses Club member)
  • Rachel Geiger - Utica High School (1 year Future Nurses Club member)
  • Lauren Trace  - Mount Vernon High School (4 year Future Nurses Club member)
  • Ashlee Hulse  - Mount Vernon High School (4 year Future Nurses Club member)
  • Shelby Holt - Danville High School (1 year Future Nurses Club member)

The speaker for the evening was Carol Dorough, EdD, MSN, RN from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and new member of the KCH Board of Trustees.

Dr. Dorough spoke about why she wanted to become a nurse and how she veered off that path of nursing but eventually came back to it.  She also talked about all the possibilities a nurse has now, with all the different specialty areas available.
