The KCH Birthing Center is proud to announce that there are two (IBCLC) International Board Certified Lactation Consultants and three (CLC) Certified Lactation Counselors on staff!

Congratulations to our staff on this achievement!

This team of certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultants will serve as a resource for all registered nursing staff in the Birthing Center and all healthcare staff at Knox Community Hospital. The Certified Lactation Counselors will assist breastfeeding mom's before, during and after their hospital stay. Together this specialized team will offer the following for our community:

Lactation Classes which will be held monthly to educate expecting women on all aspects of breastfeeding. This class will inform and educate the benefits and management of breastfeeding. For more information or to register for this free class call 740.393.9730.

Education & Assistance for the initiation of breastfeeding, skin to skin, latching, positioning, feeding cues, signs and symptoms which need to be reported and addressed by a health professional.

Free Breastfeeding Assistance After Discharge. Patients are encouraged to seek assistance as needed with any concerns regarding breastfeeding. This service also offers 24 hour on call assistance. For more information call 740.393.9730.
