The Fitness Class Instructor is responsible for being knowledgeable of class fitness exercises and to assist in improving the components of physical fitness and promoting the prevention of disease and disability. Responsible for demonstrating proper technique on exercises and ensuring the customers are performing exercises in a safe manner, on land or in the water.  Responsible for being knowledgeable of standards of practice for the practice for a Fitness Class Instructor in a community wellness and medical fitness center integrated in a healthcare setting

Demonstrate critical thinking to assure the delivery of safe, quality fitness exercises to adolescents, adult and geriatric clients. He/she is responsible for delivering courteous and respectful customer service.  Effectively communicates with the customers. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members, adheres to organizational policy and procedures, abides by regulatory/accrediting body requirements, and professional practice standards.   Assists with the daily operations.  Responsible for demonstrating effective collaboration between intra/inter departments.  Responsible for completing, in a timely manner, all assigned tasks and duties utilizing multi-tasking skills. Responsible for assuring confidentiality of patient/customer information and departmental information

Requirements Include
  • Certified through approved program to teach fitness classes preferred. Approved certification must be achieved within one year of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree in field of Exercise Physiology, Exercise Studies, Sports Management or another related fitness degree is preferred. 
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Life Guard Certification or Water Safety Instructor certification to teach in Aquatic Classes is preferred.
  • Ability to work variable days and hours as necessary.
  • Current CPR certification required.
