RN - Urgent Care, PRN

JOB SUMMARY

Provides for and delivers health care services to hospital employees, workers, and worker populations.  By collaborating with workers, management, and other disciplines, the practice focuses on promotion, protection, and restoration of worker's health within the context of a safe and healthy work environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations in this specialized field preferred.  Skilled in drug screen collection methodologies and interpretation. Knowledge and skill in applying Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines in regards to CDL (& T-8) physicals and drug/alcohol screenings (UDS certification required for DOT collections, optional). Certified Breath Alcohol Technician and Hair Testing Collector, optional. Knowledge of Worker's Compensation  system.

Knowledge of all hospital, medical staff, and nursing process standards. Advanced knowledge in management of common industrial injuries. Advanced knowledge in health promotion/disease prevention modalities. Demonstrates knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and responds appropriately.  Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual knowledge, skills, performance and behavior in accordance with hospital, division, and unit standards of care and policies and procedures.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Advanced knowledge in physical assessment.

  • Ability to assess and document, utilizing proper terminology, identifying both normal and abnormal findings.Ability to ascertain when further testing is indicated or warranted.
  • Obtains appropriate information on new injuries and prior to giving immunizations and antigen testing.
  • Ability to interpret abnormal findings from assessment data and communicate with other health care providers.
  • Assess walk-in injuries for triage purposes.
  • Rotate with peers for departmental coverage of afterhours drug screens and/or evidential  breath screenings in the emergency department and on-site when necessary.
Requirements Include: 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Graduate of an accredited program for nursing education, BSN preferred, Master's desirable.
  • Curriculum must include physical assessment course.
  • Current licensure to practice professional Nursing in the State of Ohio.
  • Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) and Respirator Protection Training, preferred.
