LPN - Mid Ohio Corporate Care (MOCC), PRN


Provides direct/indirect patient care and delivers health care services to hospital employees, workers, and worker populations. The practice focuses on promotion, protection, and restoration of worker’s health within the context of a safe and healthy work environment.  Documents accurately and in a timely manner, while utilizing the nursing process. Applies critical thinking skills to assure the delivery of safe and quality care. Assures smooth patient flow, provides patient education and clerical support. Communicates and collaborates with other healthcare team members. Adheres to organizational policies and procedures; regulatory accrediting body requirements; and professional practice standards.


  • Current knowledge of the nursing role and scope of practice as defined by the State of Ohio Nurse Practice Act and the Ohio Board of Nursing.

  • Obtain history and perform vitals, documenting in electronic health record.

  • Ability to gather data and document, utilizing proper terminology, identifying both normal and abnormal findings. Ability to ascertain when further testing is indicated or warranted.

  • Obtains appropriate information on new injuries and prior to giving immunizations and antigen testing.

  • Reports abnormal findings from assessment data and communicate with other health care providers.

  • Performs patient care by collecting routine specimens, obtaining vital signs, conducting pre-employment/annual company nursing assessments; industrial injury management; drug screenings.

  • Performs respiratory protection programs by counseling the patient on their questionnaire responses, performs respirator fit surveillance testing, training and clearance.

  • Performs special OSHA programs, if a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC), conducts, audiograms, sound meter testing, instruction or fitting and noise abatement.

  • Informs patient and family of procedures and/or testing requirements and reinforces discharge instructions.

  • Practices Information Management by documenting all pertinent information in the electronic health record (EHR). Compiling, preparing, and presenting monthly statistics and reports, as needed, within the areas of responsibility to the Director. Protects the confidentiality of information within areas of position responsibilities by preventing unauthorized release, both verbally and/or in writing.

  • Maintains self-education required for management of Mid-Ohio Corporate Care/Employee Health business lines.

  • Maintains current working knowledge of OSHA standards and requirement.

  • Coordination of case management of industrial injury claims.

  • Attends meetings, discussions, conferences, seminars and workshops, both within and outside of department or hospital, as applicable to position responsibilities.

  • Provides safe medication/immunization records/administration, such as:

         --Intradermal, subcutaneous IM injections

         --TB testing, meets the criteria to read TB test.

         -- Work in cooperation with the Infection Control Department implementing programs

            pertaining to prevention or spread of infectious disease.

          --Plan, coordinate, and implement a variety of health care prevention measures for

            hospital employees and client companies, including screening programs,

            immunization, skin tests, flu vaccinations, etc., in cooperation with the Unit

            Coordinator and Director.

  • Delivers safe nursing interventions in an organized, efficient, and prioritized manner to address identified needs.

  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with team members and other healthcare providers to coordinate the medical and nursing plans of care.

  • Accepts delegated responsibilities within scope of practice.

  • Delegates responsibilities to appropriate personnel.

  • Explain treatment procedures and prepare patient and exam room for examination.

  • Position instruments and equipment and hand to provider as directed.  Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after use.

  • Administer injections, medications, eye and ear irrigations and enemas, dress/bandage wounds and incisions, draw blood/if certified/proficient, assist provider with any procedures, and if IV certified, start and monitor IV’s for adult patients only.

  • Perform diagnostic tests including eye exams, electrocardiograph, defibrillator, cardiac monitor, oxygen equipment, pulse ox, peak flow and inhalation treatment equipment.

  • Perform CLIA-waived lab tests, draw blood/if certified/proficient, and collect, label and process specimens for send-out.

  • Perform both DOT and Non-Dot urine drug screens, using proper chain of custody; ensure preparation for pick-up and shipment to appropriate laboratory.

  • Perform dosage calculations for administering medications.

  • Remove sutures/staples and change sterile and non-sterile dressings.

  • Complete medical chart to include medical services rendered, test results, and supplies used.

  • Perform patient call backs, arrange referrals and testing, and schedule follow-up appointments.

  • Monitor disposable inventory and place orders for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, as necessary.

  • Perform quality checks on medical equipment.

  • Provides patients and family members with relevant health care education and instructions regarding treatments and procedures.

  • Assist in the orientation and training of new employees.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and responds appropriately.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual knowledge, skills, performance and behavior in accordance with applicablestandards of care and policies and procedures.

  • Utilizes measures to promote and maintain patient, visitor and personnel safety.

  • Maintains patient, employee, provider, and organization confidentiality; respects the rights, privacy, and property of others.

  • Demonstrates the appropriate use of infection control principles and personal protection equipment.

  • Supports the mission, values, and vision of the organization.

Requirements Include: 
  • Graduate of an accredited program for licensed practical nursing education.
  • Current licensure to practice practical nursing in the State of Ohio.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.
