Infection Preventionist - Quality & Performance Improvement, FT

Oversees the operations of the infection prevention and control program for the organization.    Coordinates infection prevention principles, practices, and processes. Ensures compliance with current Joint Commission standards and regulations of CMS, OSHA, and state health department.  The Infection Preventionist provides: infection control surveillance for healthcare associated infections; investigations for clusters and outbreaks; analysis/interpretation and reporting of surveillance data to reflect the current state of infection prevention/control and compliance within the organization; education of hospital employees, volunteers, and students; Evaluates the quality of patient care and patient outcomes as they relate to healthcare associated infections. Responsible for the development, review, and periodic updates of organizational policies, guidelines, and procedures as related to infection prevention and control.  Recommends and implements organizational goals and objectives related to infection prevention and control.

Requirements Include: 
  • Graduate of an accredited program for nursing education or healthcare related field; bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Ohio (if applicable).

  • Computer proficiency in the use of Excel to create graphs and data reports.

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required or within an agreed upon time frame.

  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience in a hospital setting; Infection prevention and control experience preferred.
