Front Desk Registration - Urgent Care, Part Time & PRN


This position is responsible for greeting patients, creating and updating patient and insurance information in the computer system, verifying and analyzing health insurance benefits, explaining payment policies and billing/collections processes, generating encounter forms, accepting, posting, and balancing cash drawer, scheduling follow-up appointments, and chart maintenance.


Outstanding customer service and telephone communication skills required. Must be able to adjust to rapid change. PC literate with skills in windows, email, and internet navigation. Excellent typing skills required. Must be able to prioritize, problem solve, and multi-task. Must be an independent worker while supporting a team environment. Must be able to perform professionally during high stress and high patient volume times. Schedule flexibility to assist in 365 day year coverage is essential.  If applicable, DATIA Certified urine drug screen collector; Intoximeters Certified Breath Alcohol Technician; and Psychemedics and/or Omega Laboratory Certified Hair Collector preferred. Demonstrates knowledge of disaster/emergency procedures and responds appropriately.



  • Greet, register, instruct, assist with discharge/checkout and provide general assistance to patients.
  • Obtain demographic and financial information and enter into computer system.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and relay relevant information on payment policies and billing/collection processes.
  • Determine and collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, past due balances, and other patient financial responsibility and maintain and balance cash drawer.
  • Maintain electronic medical records and scan or distribute documentation to correct locations.
  • Confirm patient understands physician instructions, and financial responsibility is settled before patient leaves.
  • Retrieve and fax/mail medical records to primary care providers and insurance carriers per patient request.
  • Answer telephone, take messages, and return voicemails.
  • Perform all other job tasks as required.
Requirements Include: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Medical billing experience and familiarity with basic medical terminology preferred.

  • Previous registration experience preferred

    • Ability to work independently and with the public in a high-pressure environment

  • Ability to escort or transport patient by wheelchair when appropriate.

  • Ability to work all shifts including day, night, and weekend hours as needed and holidays/2-3 per year.

  • Basic computer skills. Type 25 words per minute with 96% accuracy.

  • Accurately process money transactions. Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
