Director - Marketing Department, FT

JOB SUMMARY

The Marketing and Development Director is responsible for planning and implementing marketing and product development programs targeted toward existing and new markets, overseeing development efforts related to The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital both short and long range, and providing leadership and accountability for the operational functions of Volunteer Services. These are performed personally or through subordinates.

General knowledge of marketing principles and practices in a healthcare setting. Ability to plan and manage costs to respond to changing financial requirements. Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public. Ability to provide strong leadership direction. Data analysis skills required to develop and conduct appropriate market reporting and assessment to management team.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly responsible for overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the Marketing and Development Department.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive resource development plan, including:

    • Annual fund giving

    • Planned giving to include development of endowments

    • Major gifts

    • Capital campaigns, if applicable and special projects

    • Corporate and foundation solicitation

    • Events related to resource development

  • Administer and integrate all functions of the resource development team including:

    • Develop annual fundraising budget

    • Supervise all resource development employees

    • Serve as a principal field officer, responsible for personal solicitation of major gifts.

  • Work closely with the CEO, the Board of Trustees and other organizational leaders to develop and enhance relationships with key donors, prospects, constituents.

  • Represent Knox Community Hospital, KCH Foundation, and other related organizations in the community, as well as develop and implement initiatives that involve constituent and community leadership in Knox growth and advancement.

  • Develop and implement structure, process, policies and procedures for proper stewardship of gifts, including gift accounting, recognition and reporting.

  • In coordination with the organizational mission, vision and strategic plan; develop, implement and continually improve evaluate the overall development program.

  • Organize area campaigns to identify, cultivate, visit and solicit major gift prospects.

  • Monitor all phases of event preparation and follow-up to ensure timely completion of all required actions.

  • Prepare necessary documents to track department and field activities.

  • Supervise the preparation of reports and financial documents pertaining to the Foundation.

  • Supervise and evaluate all field and internal support staff and volunteers.

  • Prepare fund raising brochures, special event newsletters, development articles for the newspaper, press releases for development activities and events.

  • Represent the organization as required in a fund raising capacity at special civic, social, and religious functions.

  • Develops and implements organization’s marketing and public relations policies, procedures, strategies and plans.

  • Coordinates collection, analysis, and reporting of market and demographic data.

  • Develops and critiques external and internal communication (written and verbal) to all constituencies.

  • Coordinates activities and relationships with all media.

  • Provides direction and assistance to the marketing staff in the daily performance of their duties

  • Develops and implements strategic marketing plans to achieve organization objectives

  • Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, radio, and direct mail

  • Develops and recommends service line positioning to produce the highest possible long-term market share

  • Ensures effective control of marketing efforts to guarantee that designated budgets are met

  • Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts market strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions

  • Monitors competitors products and marketing activities

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners

  • Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to management team.

  • Establishes and maintains a consistent organizational image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events

  • Represents the organization at trade association meetings

  • Assists other departments within organization to prepare marketing and educational materials

  • Provide leadership and support for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to manage the current and future volunteer needs.

Requirements Include: 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field required; and five (5) years general experience in the Marketing Field, OR

  • A Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field preferred; and two (2) years general experience in the Marketing Field, OR

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
