woman wearing mask
An article appeared today (9-11-2021) on the front page of the Mount Vernon News under the headline, "East Knox school board votes to reaffirm mask mandate". Mount Vernon News
The article states that a doctor from Knox Community Hospital "spoke at length at the start of the meeting..." regarding what she believes are the dangers of mask-wearing. Dr. Laura Murnane, referred to as a "hospitalist at KCH," claimed that mask-wearing increases the dangers of carbon dioxide exposure. The article notes that Dr. Murnane did not provide any evidence nor did she cite any studies that would substantiate her claims at all.
Dr. Laura Murnane's personal views regarding COVID-19, vaccination, and preventive measures to reduce spread of the disease are not at all aligned with, and are in direct contradiction to, the views of Knox Community Hospital.   Dr. Murnane was notified in late June that her contractual arrangement with Knox Community Hospital was ended.
KCH is committed to following evidence-based guidelines as identified by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other recognized authorities in the science of health care regarding COVID-19 and reducing the spread of this disease.
