KCH Welcomes New Gastroenterology Doctor

KCH has added Gastroenterology as a new service line and welcomes Aslam Syed, MD, as the new Gastroenterology (GI) doctor.

Dr. Syed earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Cleveland, OH. He then received his medical degree from the American University of Integrative Services (AUIS) in the Netherlands Antilles, Dutch Caribbean/Tucker, GA. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at MetroHealth/Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and his gastrointestinal fellowship at Allegheny Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Syed is also Board-Certified in Gastrointestinal and Internal Medicine. He will also offer comprehensive care for acute and chronic liver disease.

Gastroenterology is a medical specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of issues related to the digestive or gastrointestinal (GI) tract, including any number of stomach and bowel issues, esophageal disorders, and conditions of the liver, intestine, colon, or gallbladder. Dr. Syed offers comprehensive care and offers and diagnostic procedures for various diseases, disorders, and conditions. Common disorders Dr. Syed addresses are:

  • reflux,
  • trouble swallowing (dysphagia),
  • peptic ulcer disease,
  • abdominal pain,
  • irritable bowel syndrome,
  • colon cancer prevention, and
  • inflammatory bowel disease.

In addition, Dr. Syed will bring back services, including abnormal liver lab work, hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis.
