Knox Community Hospital’s Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness has partnered with the team at the Energy Fieldhouse to provide 20 hours a week of strength and conditioning coaching.
Exercise Physiologists, Victor Grimaldo, Head Strength and Conditioning coach for MVHS, and Curtis Peters, assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach are working in the Bizios Family Weight Room to aid Mount Vernon High School athletes to meet their fitness goals. Below is the mission statement created for students participating in this great opportunity.
The weight room was funded through the generous donation of Jim and Francie "Bizios" Henry. Francie, a Mount Vernon graduate and two-sport athlete, has a great passion for athletics. Her parents Gus and Anastasia owned a restaurant downtown Mount Vernon and her father, Gus was a staple with the Mount Vernon athletic community and had many long, honest, conversations with Jacket Football coaches on Saturday mornings following Friday night football games. Our Jacket Football coaches enjoyed his conversations and discussions about Mount Vernon football. Having a passion for athletics and in particular, our female student-athletes, Francie fell in love with the concept of making this new weight room inclusive for both our male and female student-athletes. Through her connection with Caity Henninger, the owner of Rogue Fitness in Columbus Ohio, Francie was able to combine her generous donation with a discounted price to outfit the new Bizios Family Weight Room with custom designed Rogue weight equipment. This nearly 5000 sq. ft. facility will rival any collegiate weight room, let alone a high school facility.
