Time is Muscle Campaign 2022

This year, The Foundation for Knox Community Hospital campaign, "Time is Muscle", is working to raise funds to help purchase new portable/bedside cardiac monitoring units in the Emergency Department. These units will help gather more detailed information on patients who come in experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Syncope (people who pass out)
  • Irregular heart rhythms - in the Knox County area; we have a large portion of patients with Atrial Fibrillation – a rapid heartbeat
  • Renal patients who are also a large part of the Knox County population, have a hard time maintaining proper electrolytes, which can turn into heart dysrhythmias meaning your heart is beating irregular
  • Women who are experiencing abdominal pain, nausea vomiting, which could indicate a heart attack.

Monitoring patients with symptoms such as those listed above enables rapid collaboration between the emergency physician and our team of interventional cardiologists to assess possible need for cardiac intervention; saving time saves delicate heart muscle and sometimes can save a life.

There are numerous sponsorship opportunities available and our community would greatly benefit from this improvement.
